	Consequences of Floods	Rehabilitation cost Rs.!00 = US$.1.00
1	Family Particulars: Ranaweera’s family consists of 05 members, himself (49), his wife (43) and two children (10 and 14) who attend school and one child (20). Their schooling was not affected by the floods. They are not indebted and earn their living by working on their family land. They did not suffer personal injury but lost lot of things they had. Children’s school materials were destroyed by flood. Need : Personal needs and children’s school needs must be provided.	Rs.4,000 US$.40.-
2	House: The house was made of clay walls, galvanised sheet roof and clay floor. The house was fully damaged by the flood. They now live in a temporary shelter. They need help to build a house. Need : Our partner NGO, Berendina Development Services (BDS) will build a house towards which we will make a contribution.	Rs.50,000 US$.500.-
3	Household Goods: They had a almirah, bed, 02 tables and 02 chairs but not destroyed by flood. But some Kitchen utensils were damaged by the flood. Need : They need basic kitchen utensils.	Rs.3,000 US$.30.-
4	Vehicles: He had a bicycle which was not damaged.	0
5	Farm Holding: He had cultivated ¼ acre upland in brinjal and ¼ acre in chilli 3 months before the floods. They have spent around Rs. 10,000/- for the cultivation. These fields were completely destroyed by flood.  Need: As the land he cultivated did not belong to him, he does not want to cultivate again. He is interested in doing poultry farming. BDS has identified this as a feasible income generating livelihood for them. The cost until they start getting an income from this activity is Rs.46,000/- . Of this, Rs.32,500/- is required initially from sponsor with the family contributing family labour and materials worth Rs.10,000/-. BDS estimates that they can earn Rs.3,600/- as profit monthly.	poultry farming Rs.46,000 US$.460.-
6	Other: They earn Rs.8,000/- a month from casual labour but do not receive any allowance from Samurdhi or any other source. Need : They need family support for 4 months @ Rs.2,000/-	Rs.8,000 US$.80.-

8	Implementation Procedure: BDS has very kindly offered to undertake the field level implementation for the 20 families we are Adopting parallel to the projects it is implementing for other families in the area. Chakra Network Sri Lanka will take overall responsibility for the 20 families. This will involve receiving funds from Sponsoring Families / Individuals earmarked for the families they adopt, transferring funds to BDS for specific tasks in the Rehabilitation Plan for each Adopted Family, keeping track of funds spent for each Adopted Family and keeping the Sponsoring Families / Individuals informed of the progress in implementing the Rehabilitation Plan. This will incur some cost for Chakra Network Sri Lanka Need : Administration / Coordination cost	Rs.10,000 US$.100.-
